Folly Farm, which has become a must see for people on Pembrokeshire holidays will soon have its tallest attraction.

No, it's not a giraffe or an ostrich, but a new £500,000 big wheel, and at 25 metres high it will be twice the height of the present wheel.

SET Enterprises 100

What will be known as The Pembrokeshire Wheel is currently under construction at the popular south Pembrokeshire Theme Park beside the Haverfordwest-Tenby road at Begelly. A family enterprise, Folly Farm has developed a wide range of entertainments and exhibits over the years, and has grown into a major tourist honeypot five miles from the popular seaside resort of Tenby, much frequented by visitors taking Pembrokeshire holidays.

The Pembrokeshire Wheel will be on the highest point at Folly Farm, 130metres above sea level, so the views from the top of the surrounding countryside and coastal features wlll be spectacular. Capable of carrying 100 Pembrokeshire holidays visitors at one time, it will also give passengers a birds eye view of the complex and an idea of the layout to orientate them when they come down to earth. It will even have wheelchair access so the less able need not remain earthbound.

Other investments planned for this season are the opening of an interactive centre and the refurbishment of a number of the Farm's fairground rides, including the magnificent Golden Gallopers who celebrate their 90th birthday next year.

You could say Folly Farm is on the hypoteneuse of the Pembrokeshire holidays tourist triangle, with Manor House Leisure and Wildlife Park, Heatherton Sports Park, Ritec Valley Buggy Rides and the Dinosaur Park to the south and Oakwood, Bluestone and Heron's Brook Leisure Park and Waterfowl Centre to the North. Manor House, run of course by the dynamic and effervescent Amanda Richardson, has an increasing variety of the most interesting animals and birds and other diversions for the families and the children. Its neighbouring attractions providing further variety for those enjoying Pembrokeshire holidays including - games, frightening dinosaurs lurking in the woods, children's rides and close contact with animals. Heron's Brook, near Narberth, provides a more tranquil atmosphere with its golf course and its colourful wildfowl. Oakwood, on the other hand, is the ultimate white-knuckle ride centre of the County, with many other gentler attractions besides, while Bluestone, the youngest of them all, is a peaceful 21st century rural village offering so many different leisure pursuits to suit all ages, set in a magical green bowling the centre of verdant Pembrokeshire.
